A little over a year ago, the first Christian clothing line was launched in New Delhi by designer Christian Hackenberg.
The line’s motto: “Christians don’t need clothes, we need shoes.”
The brand was founded by a team of five designers working with an international team of artists, who designed and executed over 30 pieces for the brand.
The brand also created a collection of shoes inspired by Jesus’ teachings.
But the brand is now celebrating its tenth anniversary, and Hackenberg said he wants to continue to explore the Christian clothing market.
“We are in a unique time,” he said, speaking to The Times India.
“There is an abundance of Christian brands, but not much diversity of styles.”
Christian Hackenburg, founder of Christian Clothing, says he wants his business to be a reflection of India’s diversity.
He said he has seen a resurgence of Christian clothing, with brands like H&M and Burberry looking to cater to Christian consumers.
“The Christian Clothing brand is a reflection for the Christian world,” he added.
“In a world that has become a Christian nation, Christian fashion is a beautiful, unique way to represent the faith.”
Christian Clothing is a subsidiary of Christian Brands India Pvt.
Ltd, which was founded in 2009.
The business has grown to include a fashion department in addition to its online store.
Its clothing range is now sold in stores in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and also through online retailers.
Christian Clothing said it has sold over 7.5 crore pieces in the past five years.
“Our strategy is to be as diverse as possible,” said Hackenberg, adding that Christian Clothing strives to represent Christian values in every piece of clothing it creates.
Christian Brands, which has more than a thousand stores across India, said the Christian Clothing logo has been adopted on all of its apparel.
“To us, it is a badge of our company,” he told The Times.
“It is the only Christian symbol that we have adopted.”
Christian Brands said that Christian clothes have gained popularity across India since the brand launched its online shop in 2014.
The store is stocked with Christian products, and is a major source of revenue for the company.
“Every year we increase our sales by 20-25 per cent,” he pointed out.
“This is because of the interest that we are getting from our customers.”
Christian Fashion also sells a range of Christian-inspired accessories such as necklaces, gloves, earrings and necklacing bracelets.
It also sells Christian-themed shoes, hats and earrings.
“Christian Clothing is also expanding into apparel in the United States,” he noted.
Hackenberg also said Christian Brands is working to make Christian apparel more affordable. “
So we have a range in the US, Europe, Australia and South America.”
