(AP) A Florida Christian college will donate $1 million to buy more books for its students after the school decided to discontinue its annual gift drive.
The Florida Department of Education said Friday it will begin a program to buy new textbooks in the fall for students at the Christian school, Pensacolan School of Theology in Florida.
The school’s annual gift is about $5,000.
The school has said it stopped its annual distribution of books after a number of factors, including declining enrollment and a decrease in donations.
The move was announced by the university’s vice president for communications, and the college announced a similar donation.
