Christian yuk has a new TV character, a white Christian warrior who fights alongside Morven Hudson.
The new Morven comes from the book series “American Gods,” and yuk said he and his wife are excited to play him.
Yuk said the character was inspired by a conversation with Hudson in which Hudson asked if he wanted to play a character that “doesn’t have a name.”
Yuk has said he would have liked to have played a more stereotypical white Christian in the series.
He said he has been influenced by “American Beauty” and “American Horror Story,” which he said are the shows that most influenced him when creating Morven.
Morven, the name of a Norse deity who is an incarnation of Odin, has been around for centuries, but his origin story in the “American series” was more mysterious.
Yu said he is interested in exploring what his character would have been like had he been born into a different culture.
“It’s important to remember that this is a show about gods and heroes, and these are people who have very strong religious beliefs,” he said.
“And in the show, you can see that, too.”
The first episode of “American Blood” airs Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
